It was lovely to see so many of you at our Monday Market this week. At the centre we like any excuse for a bit of a do and as our Market has now turned two years old why not! hot butty’s and a fresh cream cake was breakfast today, around of happy birthday, followed by a free raffle.
We started the Market back in September 2022 with the help of Food Savers, 15 items for £5 plus a free bag of fruit and veg as we recognised that people were struggling to put food on the table due to the increases in the energy bills and food prices This has grown from people just calling in to pick up some shopping, to staying on enjoying a cuppa and some breakfast. In the colder winter months we have a pot of homemade soup on the go.
The Market is open to everyone as long as you live or work in Bradford, no referral is needed.
The Market is now a place where your pennies go further, friendships and support networks are made and information and ideas are shared. The bakers often bring in their homemade sweet treats which always goes down well. Many people that joined the Market now come into the centre to join in some of our other activities.

Bernadette: Helps me to help my family, good company too
Shaista: I used to be stressed about my health and not being able to work. But the market has helped me to save more so I can afford more food at the supermarket. I feel supported enough to be able to try new things I buy from the market.
Peter: I always have other people to talk to when I come to the market. I am less anxious because everyone is welcoming. The market has given me a reason to leave the house on Mondays and I am encouraged to try new things.
